If your shingled roof is about 15-20 years old, if you’re experiencing leaking, or if you have shingles that have blown off, it’s likely time for you to replace your roof. Selecting a qualified roofing contractor is the most important first step! Once you’ve determined your best fit local roofing company, you sign the contract and get on the schedule.

Depending on the season and the company, most roof installations can get scheduled within 2-5 weeks. Understand, too, that roofing is affected by weather conditions. Heavy rains, snowfall, extreme cold or wind could impact when your project will be able to start!

As your roof installation date approaches, you’ll want to make sure you’re prepared for your roofing contractor to arrive so the crew can get right to work. If you have any questions before your project begins, reach out to your project supervisor.

Timeline and Steps to Prepare for your Roof Replacement

Days Leading Up to Your Roofing Project

1) For ease of clean up, have your grass cut. If your yard is cut shorter, then it makes it easier for the crew to find little pieces of debris and nails during clean up.

2) Plan to have your cars out of your driveway or garage if you need to have access to them!

3) Space is needed to park the dumpster or trailer where trash will be disposed of. This could be your driveway or on the street. Configure this ahead of time so you can reserve spots on the street if needed!

4) If you have an attic or garage with exposed roof decking directly into the indoor space, ensure your valuables are protected. Small pieces of debris may fall through any cracks in the roof decking during tear off. We would recommend you remove any belongings that could get damaged or place sheets/tarps over your items!

Project Start Day

At Joyland Roofing, our crews arrive between 7-8am and get directly to work. Their first step is to place tarps along the edges of your home to protect your home and landscape from falling debris. Your project supervisor will be at your property shortly after to discuss your project.

Finishing the Project

The roof replacement process can be simplified into 6 steps. For most residential roof replacement projects, our crews can complete the job in 1 day. Larger projects can take about 2 days.

Following installation completion, your project supervisor will go through his final inspection checklist to ensure it meets his standards. Then, he will walk through the property with you to ensure you’re satisfied with the work, too!

At Joyland Roofing, you don’t pay until the job is completed. Once you’re happy with the installation, our accounting team will email you an invoice. This is when our team will register your contract with GAF for the warranty, if applicable.
