At Joyland Roofing, we believe a roof should do more than keep out rain. It should protect dreams, restore dignity, and build hope. As a Lancaster County roofing company that loves giving back, we’re proud to partner with North Star Initiative, a local nonprofit making a real difference in Central PA.

A Roofing Company with a Heart for the Community

Our team recently sponsored and spoke at the North Star Initiative’s first breakfast event at the beautiful Star Barn in Elizabethtown. Their mission—to provide safe, healing housing and care for women escaping trafficking—resonates deeply with us.

Who Is North Star Initiative?

North Star Initiative is a Lancaster-based nonprofit that helps women recover from the trauma of sex trafficking. Through trauma-informed, Christ-centered programs like The Harbor and The Refuge, North Star offers housing, therapy, life-skills training, and a clear path to independence.

Supporting Women Through Transitional Housing and Hope

Joyland Roofing owns a home in Lancaster City that North Star uses as a transitional house. To us, it’s just a property. For these women, it’s a second chance. It’s a safe place to heal and begin again. The home is rent-free for residents and serves as a cornerstone of hope under one roof.

A Partnership That Builds More Than Roofs

Our partnership with North Star is about using what we do best—roofs and real estate—to create real community impact. Every nail and every shingle plays a part in providing safety and dignity for those rebuilding their lives.

How One Home in Lancaster City Is Changing Lives

The transitional home that North Star operates through Joyland is more than shelter. It’s a new beginning. It proves what can happen when businesses and nonprofits unite for a purpose. When you combine craftsmanship with compassion, you build more than roofs—you build hope.

Continuing a Tradition of Giving Back

This isn’t the first time Joyland Roofing has partnered with a local nonprofit. Earlier this year, our team worked with CASA of Lancaster County to provide a much-needed roof replacement for their office. Just like our work with North Star Initiative, that project reminded us that when we use our craft to serve others, we strengthen our community. You can read that story here.

Get Involved and Keep Hope Growing

We’re honored to play a small role in North Star’s mission and invite others to do the same. To learn more about their work and find ways to help, visit North Star Initiative.

When a roof becomes refuge, it’s not just construction—it’s compassion in motion.
